Tapping

Tapping is a really simple and very effective technique that you can use to interrupt the flow of energy in your body and change the way you feel. It is a stress reliever and a great relaxation tool.

The Set Up Statement

We begin by tapping with your fingers on the karate chop point (the side of your hand below your fingers) on your other hand

We start with a set up statement ‘even though I’m feeling (insert your feeling here), I’m safe and I’m ok’ or ‘even though (insert situation e.g. I’m finding maths hard today etc), I’m still a great kid

You can repeat your set up statement three times. If you want, you can make your voice sound a little different each time

You can just tap without staying anything at all if you prefer

You can also tap in other places on your body

Tapping gently under your eyes can help you feel calmer and more grounded

Tapping below your collar bones can lift your energy and soothe you

Tapping under your arms can help you process thoughts

Opening your arms wide and then giving yourself a big hug can help to soothe difficult feelings

Squeezing your opposite shoulder and then pulling your hand across your body to your hip can help give your clarity on your thoughts

5 Taps

This sequence can be used as part of the Daily Energy Routine or by itself.

It might be particularly useful at the beginning of the day or at the start of a new lesson.

Chipmunk Cheeks – Tapping gently under your eyes

Power Monkey – Tapping under your collar bones

Gorilla Thumps – Tapping in the middle of your chest

Discreet Tapping

Tap and hold on each of the points rather that tapping repeatedly.

Or, take your thumb and first finger and squeeze on the side of your other thumb nail for a few seconds as you take a big breath in and out again.

Next move onto squeezing the side of your nail on your first finger.

Repeat on each finger and then move to the next hand.
